AFTL, a.k.a, Angelo Mangini and Kevin Muhlen, have been collaborating musically for more than twenty years. Both coming from the metal-genre they have explored extreme musical forms throughout the years, mainly as guitarists. Since 2012 they’ve both been temped by new musical and sonic horizons and their respective solo explorations have led them both to venture into experimental drone music. Mangini is naturally drawn to acoustic instruments derived from folk and tribal environments ; whereas Muhlen dwelves in the world of synths. Their sporadic collaborative project AFTL, merges both of the personalities and creative realms always ‘away from that line’.
Since 2002, Claude Michels is floating through the ambient-electronic soundspace. Over the last few years, his musical ideas developed a more gloomy touch, so he looked out to express them in an appropriate way. Exploring the darker spheres of ambient music, his project Quiet Flynt can therefore be defined as an homage to the obvious obscure sides in and around everything. For this live set at Ratelach, Quiet Flynt shares the stage again with dancer Corinne May. Her contemporary and engaging performance will add a deep physical dimension to the obscure musical atmosphere.
